Security
Unique Jamaica’s foremost concern is always, the safety of you - our visitors..
We welcome you to our Unique Jamaica and we just want to say that when you are away from home you should continue to take care of yourself and your possessions.
If you need emergency assistance and/or you are injured or arrested you should immediately contact your Embassy/High Commission. You may also contact the Jamaica Tourist Board offices located in Kingston, Montego Bay and Port Antonio.
Safety Guidelines:
At all times prior to commencing a tour and/or excursion we suggest you inquire on the safety guidelines/regulations from your service provider.
Transportation: Buses, Taxis etc.
Importantly, we drive on the left. Use only licensed carriers during your visit to Jamaica. We do not recommend riding on the roof of vehicles or body protrusion through vehicles during your journey. If at any time you feel a speeding driver is compromising your safety, please ask the driver to slow down. He may feel your silence means consent. Seat belts are mandatory when driving in Jamaica.
Lifejackets are available for boat travel. Please note if weather conditions do not permit, excursions may be cancelled as required. Helmets are also a legal requirement for motorbikes and bicycles. If may be advisable to bring additional protective gear such as knee and elbow pads.
If you elect to participate in optional adventure activities on your own please ensure that these activities are offered by licensed operators.
Please note these are not comprehensive safety guidelines but serve as useful information to aid you in your decision making process.
